JD MacMillan graduated from Simon Fraser University where she studied psychology with a concentration in child development. She later studied Early Childhood Education at Langara College and ultimately obtained her Special Ed certificate. JD supervised and managed day cares, out-of-school cares and preschools in both the lower mainland and Alberta. She particularly values her experience managing a parent-participation preschool, where her belief that all children learn best when their families are involved was reinforced. JD also assisted and facilitated in the establishment of an early literacy program in a local school district. She continues to further her education by attending a variety of workshops specific to special education and autistic spectrum disorder.
JD has been employed at Loyst and Associates for over five years as both an interventionist and a team leader; this has given her the unique perspective within the company. Her excellent knowledge of both the administrative and clinical roles are invaluable assets.
As a team leader for R&R intervention services for Richmond, Burnaby, and Vancouver, JD supports and mentors interventionists and parents through their individual progress. She has an excellent understanding of child growth and development and the application of the R & R curriculum.
