I graduated from Kwantlen Polytechnic University with an Arts degree in Psychology. Behavior and mental processes, particularly in lower functioning children fascinated me, so decided to pursue my career in providing therapy to children diagnosed with ASD. Furthermore, I volunteered at Big Sisters foundation and BC Children’s Hospital to support children in need.
I started working with children who were in traditional ABA therapy, and quickly realized how many diverse approaches there were in ASD. Instantaneously recognized the developmental approach was the approach I preferred, and would help me in making a real emotional connection with the child. Loyst and Autism Services have provided that platform as an interventionist. I have developed strong emotional connections with the families and the children, and aspire to have that connect through truly engaging with the child and having positive relationships with the families.
My goal as team leader is to mentor and support interventionists in sharing the same emotional connect and engagement with the children and their families.
